Making Your Site Accessible

We Ensure Your Website is Accessible

Web Design Accessibility

We have experience, and can help create pages that are more accessible to users with disabilities, including users browsing who may be vision impaired. In the UK it is now law as part of the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) that your web site must past certain accessibility guidelines.

Browser/Platform Compatibility

Everyone has different machines with different browsers installed. This difference can vary the appearance of webpages slightly, normally this difference is subtle, but at worst it could make a web page unusable. For this reason we make sure all sites we design are thoroughly tested and validated, we automatically test all sites using popular browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape and Opera, with both older and new versions. We will also thoroughly check compatibility should there be a need for a specific browser on a device such as a mobile phone.

We will always follow the web design standards laid out by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) which helps ensure cross-browser compatibility and improve accessibility.

Screen Resolution Compatibility

We also test all sites at several different screen resolutions and on a Windows and Unix Platform to guarantee compatibility. It is important that your site is viewable in a low resolution with a low colour depth, as many people still use a low 800 x 600 screen resolution.

Loading Time

Mouse A quick loading time for every page on your website is essential, if pages start to take longer than 10 seconds to load, then many viewers will get bored with waiting and start to leave. We will make sure images are compressed enough to load at a reasonable speed even for users on a 56k dial-up or less. Hi-tech websites can be great and visually stunning, but whether it's appropriate depends on your target audience and if your company has the pull-factor. The best way to ensure fast loading is to minimise the use of flash, and scripting languages on each page.
